I still hate Mondays.

But that was until #MusicMonday!

So now you'll notice the 'New' is gone. That's because I found a tonne of old school funk that's too good not to share! Right, let's get to it! Here's a few tracks I'll be playing on repeat this week!

Like our music picks or have a few of your own? Comment on Facebook or Twitter and we'll make it happen!

Happy #MusicMonday!

NIGERIAN ROCK!

Artist: The Hygrades

Track: Keep on Moving!

Surely, 'Nigerian' and 'rock' can't be put in the same sentence? You'd be very wrong! This band was formed in the 1970's by some cool cats in Nigeria, mostly super talented Enugu-based guitarist and producer Goddy Oku. Check out this James Brown-like track 'Keep of Movin'.

SING IT NOW!

Artist: St Paul & The Broken Bones

Track: I'll be your woman.

This band may not seem like 'your thing' until you listen to the lead singers vocals! Wow! Plus any song that starts   'Oh sweet girl, how you rescue me / From the sirens of the sea' is just too beautifully poetic not to listen to.

WOW, WHO IS THIS?

Album: NEW GEN

Track: Busy (feat. Ray Blk) [E]

I bumped into this compilation album by accident on iTunes, this album is great in general, especially if you're keen for something new and fresh. The track 'Busy' feat Ray Blk stood out for me and I had to know more! Listen to both 'Busy' on the NEW GEN album and also check out 'Chill Out' feat SG Lewis below which is equally great.

MANGOES ANYONE?:

Artist: Gabriel Garzon-Montano

Track: Sour Mango

This musician from Brooklyn, a product of French Colombian heritage first came to our attention last year with 'Sour Mango'. His whole album is worth listening to as well, especially tracks like 'Crawl'. Jardin is a solid album you'll listen to more than once!

A LITTLE INDIE:

Artist: The Head and the Heart

Track: All We Ever Knew

I'm a sucker for indie and folksy music and this track gave me a warm fuzzy feel-good feeling! A simple, easy listening track to start your week, (and may I add a great song for a car advert/commercial don't you think?)

BONUS:

Artist: Prince Kaybee feat Lady Zamar

Track: Charlotte

I can't get enough of this song, it was huge over the Christmas holidays but is too good not to mention again in case you missed it. Lady Zamar's vocals are everything in this track!

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Kudisco!
