WHAT IS IT?:

CALM WATER GEL:

I was lucky to be invited to the local launch of these two new products and I got to tell you. I'm beyond impressed. The calm water gel is soothing and super moisturising and feels like a drop of water in your hands. It's light as a feather with aloe 🌵, apple fruit extract 🍎 lavender flower extracts and sea salt. This promises to lock the moisture on your skin and is especially made with sensitive skins in mind. My skin is both sensitive and dry and this stuff does wonders. My skin literally soaks it up and the overall texture of my skin from when I started using this to now is drastically improved. The dry patches on my face as well as hyper-pigmentation marks have all but disappeared 💦💦💦.

This contains 2-Hexanediol, Diethylhexyl Carbonate. This is a moisturising agent that provides light and non greasy moisture to skin. It also contains Sodium Hyaluronate, which can hold an incredible amount of water within its molecules and also prevents additional water loss. This is not to be con

BARRIER DEFENCE BOOSTER:

Now this stuff is magic. This works by further locking in moisture into your skin. If you liked Dermalogica before you'll love them for this gem of a product that has all the amazing oils (walnut, grape seed, kiwi seed, cranberry seed...the list of awesome ingredients is endless). And yes, that is a unicorn 🦄 ...they hang around magic, which is what these two products are.

"Yes, that's a unicorn... 🦄 they hang around magic, which is what these two products are  ."

THE SCIENCE:

Using anti-inflammation ingredients from turmeric to succulents, these two products moisturise the top dermis and also go deeper to moisturise the new cells below. Whilst the calm water locks moisture in, the defence booster nourishes dry skin for a dewy finish.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

My only criticism is the price point. But guys....this stuff ACTUALLY works. I had a breakout on my hand and put this power combo on everyday for a week. The skin has repaired itself in a very short amount of time. Each product will set you back between R 1000 to R 2000. 💰💰💰💰

FINAL VERDICT:

If you're prepared for the steep price point then get it! Get it for your friends, cousins, girlfriends and family. This combo is perfect if you have sensitive or dry skin that's prone to flare ups. My skin is the extreme of dry and sensitive and these two products are doing THE most for it.

* Can cause irritation. ** Preservative which can cause irritation 🌶.

WHAT IS IT?:

This is a lightweight strobe cream that adds a touch of shimmer to your skin. It lifts your skin by adding a touch of moisture and radiance to it. This is a quick fix for dull, tired looking skin with a vitamin zap. ☀️⭐️

THE SCIENCE:

This products moisturises as much as it adds shimmer. With a variety of oils in the ingredient listing added to the Mica and Titanium Dioxide pigment, this is a moisturiser first and then a make-up product. With green tea and mulberry root extracts (with anti inflammatory properties) and loaded with humectants such as Sodium Hyaluronate and Lineloic Acid, this is an easy staple to apply and keep in your bag.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This is a great product for great value (R 500). I was put off by the fragrance in this initially and I must say to this day this has stuck. Granted, I don't use fragranced products at all. 💰💰

FINAL VERDICT:

If you don't mind fragranced products then you'll love this. It's definitely worth its weigh in salt and more. This is especially handy for those days your skin just isn't keen to come to the party. Definitely one of the best strobe creams on the market at the moment.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer

a.k.a "Undercover Hero".

WHAT'S  IN IT?

(Amongst others). Vitamin E, Rapeseed extract, Date Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sorbitan Oleate, Caprylyl Glycol, Iron Oxides for the pigment.

"This is perfect for those of us who are prone to binge watching Netflix and sleeping late." 👩🏾‍💻🛏.

WHAT IS IT?:

Lightweight liquid concealer that's perfect for under-eye bags. As the Bobbi Brown website states this definitely visibly brightens and does a great job of hiding those dreaded bags, hyper and hypo pigmentation and acne scars. Its great for sensitive skin as all Bobbi Brown products are and provides full day coverage. This is perfect for those of us who are prone to binge watching Netflix and sleeping late.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This blends very well and doesn't crease. I did find that it dried quite quickly on my skin. You know what I didn't like. The applicator. It just doesn't do the job and ruined the experience of an otherwise good product. At R 450 this is also a very reasonable product. 💰💰

FINAL VERDICT:

Available in a number of shades, this is a good product, and a little goes a long way. However, I do feel that other Bobbi Brown concealers like these, have worked better for me in the past.
