i want to apologize to all the women i have called beautiful
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is all you have to be proud of.
Yes, I've been missing in action! My bad...really. A girl needs a break now and again and besides, I managed to try so many products whilst I was in hibernation. Do I have a treat for you! Lots of great new products to share with you and even more on the way. Remember these reviews are entirely my own opinion so I will be real with ya'll!
Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer.
aka "fool-proof bomb lips".
"ADDICTIVE SHINE, NOURISHING WEAR. UNIVERSAL FINISHING TOUCH"...yes please!
I hate lip glosses, usually because they don't really provide enough hydration and leave my lips more cracked up than before. I need moisture okurr! Add to that I've reacted pretty horribly to some glosses in the past and just gave up altogether. I know there are people that are pro-Fenty and others that are just not bothered. What I will say is hate all you want on the brand, but hating on this product is unwarranted. Seriously. I've been using it everyday for the past week and I wish I had bought a few more.
It just does the job mamma! I'm not the only one who thinks so. This product has been named best by a few publications. It hydrates and leaves a neutral high-gloss shimmer to your lips that doesn't look like you've just been drinking a bottle of olive oil! I will say one thing. it doesn't really last that long on my lips and I often need to reapply it. But then again, what lip gloss ever lasted more than an hour? 💄💋👄

"Addictive shine? Yes please."
THE BOTTOM LINE:
My only criticism is availability. This isn't available in South Africa except maybe on Samika Online or Cosmetic Boutique or MakeUp Shack. Be warned, these online stores mark-up prices quite a bit. But if you live near a Sephora you're in luck. This is priced at a very affordable R 250 or USD 18.
Hell yes! I want seven more to stock up on for a rainy year!
Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Facial Oil
can you say 'clear skin'?
"LAPIS LAZULI, A FAVOURITE STONE OF ANCIENT EGYPT, IS KNOWN FOR ITS GORGEOUS DEEP COLOUR"...oooh, tell me more!
Herbivore Botanicals have been on my radar since I started blogging and I finally got to try the Lapis Facial Oil. Made by a husband and wife duo, Herbivore Botanicals is vegan and cruelty free and only uses natural ingredients...better respect'! What's interesting is that even though it says its more for people with oily skin, I actually found that it also works on someone with a combination skin like mine. This facial oil is usually coupled with the Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask.
The combo was too pricey so I just bought a mini Lapis Facial Oil. Usually facial oils promise a miracle in a bottle... then greatly disappoint, (like a Tinder date) 😂 and whilst I wasn't initially blown away by this...(the colour is so dope), my skin slowly warmed up to it. The acne prone parts of my face calmed down and cleared, BUT because I also have dry patches I found the skin here became a touch drier. That not withstanding, it worked super well where it was supposed to. Maybe next time I'll use it with the Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisturiser. That's when I win the Lotto because daaaaamn!

Blue Tansy: High in Azulene, which is a deep, inky-blue color naturally. Azulene helps to soothe dry irritated skin, reduce appearance of redness and balance oily skin. Kukui Nut Oil: Naturally high in linoleic acid to balance oily and combination skin. Absorbs quickly into skin for hydration and nourishment at a deep level. Jojoba Oil: Jojoba is an incredible natural moisturizer and is able to penetrate deeply into the skin due to similarities to our skin's own natural sebum.
Squalane has an excellent emollient properties and acts as a light protective barrier to lock moisture in the skin. It also protects the skin against appearance of hyper-pigmentation and premature aging. Jasmine Sambac Oil comes from the night blooming variety of Jasmine. It is a sweet and exquisite oil that has been used in skincare and perfumery for centuries. The oil itself works to increase the skin's moisture content and boost elasticity.
OLIVE SQUALANE OIL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDES (FRACTIONATED COCONUT OIL), ALEURITES MOLUCCANA (KUKUI) NUT OIL, TOCOPHEROL (VITAMIN E), TANACETUM ANNUUM (BLUE TANSY) LEAF OIL, JASMINUM SAMBAC (JASMINE) ABSOLUTE, ROSA DAMASCENA (MOROCCAN ROSE) ABSOLUTE
THE BOTTOM LINE:
This is a great product and the combination of a mini Lapis Facial Oil and Blue Tansy Resurfacing Mask comes in at €25.07 which is R400. Sad truth is you'd be hard-pressed to find it for that amount here in South Africa. Check out the online store for possible delivery over the seas though ☹️
Buy it if you have the bucks, the results are guaranteed especially if you're using a combination of products. If the budget won't allow and you don't have cousins visiting from the States who can bring this then give it a skip.
Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon
"time for some well scented zzzzz's".
" Netflix, chill and Sound Sleep Cocoon." 👩🏾💻.
I thought I had written about this but realised I hadn't. I was invited to the Dermalogica launch of this product earlier this year. Shoutout to them for always thinking abut a sister 😊😊. Anyway, as I'm typing this, I have slathered a fair amount of this magical stuff on my face. Dermalogica has been releasing some great moisture boosting products lately. From the Dermalogica Calm Water Gel to the Dermalogica Moisture mask, their products are designed to keep even the driest skins moisturised. I am open for my love of Dermalogica products and some are hit and misses. This and everything in the moisturising range is a definite hit. This scented moisturiser does the job. Its best used with all the above mentioned products for added moisture. I love this stuff. 😊😊😊What I will say is that the packaging and twist-to-open mechanism is quite unconventional and took some getting used to.
Also how cool is the DIY video below?
INGREDIENTS: (pulled from the Dermalogica site).
Tamarind seed extract creates a nourishing cocoon of comfort for softer, more hydrated skin while encapsulated, motion-activated French-lavender essential oil (with Sandalwood and Patchouli) work all night to promote deep, restful sleep for healthier-looking skin by morning. Other key ingredients include Persian Silk-tree extract which reduces signs of skin fatigue and restores vitality while Wu-Zhu-Yu extract provides visibly radiant skin by the a.m.
WATER/AQUA/EAU, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, PROPANEDIOL, POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, ALBIZIA JULIBRISSIN BARK EXTRACT, DIMETHICONE/PEG-10/15 CROSSPOLYMER, SODIUM CHLORIDE, EVODIA RUTAECARPA FRUIT EXTRACT, LAVANDULA HYBRIDA ABRIAL HERB OIL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TERMINALIA FERDINANDIANA FRUIT EXTRACT, CAPRYLHYDROXAMIC ACID, TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE, TAMARINDUS INDICA SEED POLYSACCHARIDE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) FLOWER EXTRACT, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, FUSANUS SPICATUS WOOD OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN LEAF OIL, SODIUM CITRATE, PEG-10 DIMETHICONE, HEXANEDIOL, POLYURETHANE CROSSPOLYMER-1, LIMONENE, TOCOPHEROL, CITRIC ACID, LINALOOL, PHENOXYETHANOL
THE BOTTOM LINE:
I'd sooner recommend the Dermalogica Calm Water Gel to cover moisture basics, but this is a great add on for extra moisture.
Great product but at quite a steep price point of R 1 250.
Ooolala Hyaluronic Serum Moisture Boost
"because there's nothing sexier than Plump Skin".
I will always support local, especially if its good for you and your body. The Oolala Collection is backed by Beauty Without Cruelty and VeganSA. This means all 45 distinct products across nine categories are completely 100% animal-friendly. This means no harmful parabens or carcinogenic stuff...thank God!. What makes a good moisturiser for me is something that can moisturise for a long time without leaving your skin greasy or breakout prone.
So, whilst I didn't initially like how the moisturiser settled on my skin, this concern was unwarranted as the gel settled beautifully in your skin leaving a light matte feel and a gorgeous Tea Tree Oil scent. Now for the 'long time' part. Whilst I like this, I feel my skin needed more moisture at some point which this product didn't always give. But let's not write this off at all...this is a great product, but if you have slightly dryer skin then definitely pair this with the Hyaluronic Oil Moisture Boost Night oil even during the day.
Oolala is 100% vegan, paraben, organic and cruelty free

AQUA (WATER), VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPE) SEED OIL, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, CANNABIS SATIVA SEED OIL, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, TOCOPHEROL ACETATE, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) LEAF OIL, RICINUS COMMUNIS (CASTOR) SEED OIL, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE, WATER(AND)PHENETHYL ALCOHOL (AND) SODIUM CARRAGEENAN (AND)SEA SALT, CARBOMER, CETYL ALCOHOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, PETROLATUM, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CETEARETH, DMDM HYDANTOIN, TRIETHANOLAMINE, PHENOXYETHANOL (AND) ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
You won't get quality ingredients like this at such a reasonable price point. The Hyaluronic Serum Moisture Boost retails at R 395 and the Hyaluronic Oil Moisture Boost Night oil for R 482.
This is definitely worth trying, even more s as the site has something for everyone. Check it out here.
Fenty Morrocan Spice Palette
"Last but not Least".
"GIVE ME THAT SPICEY GLOW YO.."
Fenty products make me glow like the sun yo! I know, I know, this isn't a skin product but I had to review this. I like subtle subdued makeup that's not too out there. Something you can use everyday without looking like you're about to pop bottles in a club 😳.
I saw this palette and had to try it out. So far, I like most colours more than other which is normal, but compared to the sparkle in other highlighters in Fenty Kilowatt, this product is subdued. Some people aren't a fan of this, but the is precisely what I like about it. A touch of colour without an ashy look. With palette colours such as CA$ABLANCA and SAHARA STUNNA, this palette is lots of fun.
Fenty is 100% cruelty free
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Beautiful packaging and a variety of great colours. But if you want more pop in your palette this isn't for you.
This is a steep USD 59 or R 790 but if you feel like splurging on a quality chilled palette you'll use until its finished then do it. I got this because I was looking for a colourful palette with a touch of shimmer and this delivered.
